Completely agree — I had the exact problem and solved it by recreating the automation. Took me a while to locate that parameter.
SystemAdmin: I've been working with this for several years and it's been pretty solid. The automations work well once you configure correctly.

Just got this working! The trick was configuring the MQTT broker properly. Seems obvious now.
